Report of #StartupThailand 2018

Report of #StartupThailand 2018
Right after Tech in Asia Singapore 2018, I participated in Startup Thailand and I had a booth with Jobright as well. I'd like to introduce this event on this blog.

Aggressive attitude to this event by Thailand government

This event was held by Thailand government but they obviously spend a lot of money for this event. Lots of startups from lots of countries participated in it.

Great entrance of Startup Thailand
Very big monument (?) at the entrance.

Floor map of Startup Thailand
Floor map of this event was like this. There were some stages, rooms for workshops, booth area and so on. It's a little difficult to see but the area with lots of colors right under "PLENARY HALL" is the area for the booths of all over the world such as Japan, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Singapore, Chilli, Germany and so on. The light green area right under C1 is the area for the booths of startups in Thailand.

Lobby of Startup Thailand
The entrance hall was like this. Very wide!

Event space
The inside of the main hall. Mainly there were lots of booths in this area but this photo is... what? Not many people here but this is because I took this photo before the event began.

Opening ceremony
The opening ceremony starts in the main stage...

Opening ceremony speech
And Minister of Ministry of Science and Technology (probably) gave a presentation about the startup ecosystem in Thailand in Thai.

Japan team

I had a booth in Japan pavilion with the support of Fukuoka city.

Here are the startups that participated in this event together.

Events and startups

I introduce some events and the other startups here.

One of the stage that pitch event was held
When I went to the stage at the next to the area of our booths, I found the pitch event. 10 startups participated in this battle.

One of the stage that pitch event was held
Then I listened to this presentation. They are the startup to provide the platform of esports in Asia using the blockchain called bountie.

Health tech area

Travel tech area

Fintech are

Lifestyle and entertainment

Property and urban tech

As far as I saw, the number of booths and visitors to the booths were the largest in the TRAVELTECH area. This is because Thailand is the sightseeing country?

Introduction to some startups

OneDee.io is the smartphone application to track the attendance of employees. I think we can find lots of similar services.

FoodStory is the one-stop solution for restaurants. This provides booking, payment, point count, report and so on.

Sayurbox is the online shopping application of organic foods.

Band performance...?

Band play
I don't know why but suddenly band performance started in one of the stages in the main hall. This singer is famous in Thailand? I don't know but lots of participants took photos (that's why I also took a photo).

Band play in the networking party
While I was participating in this event, I sometimes asked the staff if there is a networking party or not. They always said, "I have no idea". No idea!? Anyway nobody knew that so I thought that they wouldn't hold it.
But actually, they did. They suddenly announced at 6pm that they would start the networking part from 6:30pm. 30 mins before! I was lucky because I was still there...

Summary

Became a friend with a unicorn
It was a good opportunity that I could meet with lots of startups in the SEA and I became friends with Unicorn. In near future, I will be a unicorn too.
Through this event, I always tried to look for startups using the blockchain or AI but I didn't find many. This was the difference from Tech in Asia Singapore 2018. If I could have more opportunities to give a pitch presentation or to talk to investors, it would be a better chance for me.
And I hope they can improve the operation the next time. Everything was sudden in this event...
