Running helps entrepreneurs

Recently I'm making it a habit of running. Then I'd like to say strongly that running helps entrepreneurs. I list up the reason why I think so in this blog.

Free of charge

Entrepreneurs basically don't have much money (only me!?). But it's for free only to run. This is very helpful for entrepreneurs!

We can choose the time

Entrepreneurs are basically busy because they must focus on their business for 24 hours, 365 days. But we can run anytime so it's easy for them to adjust their time. This is very helpful for entrepreneurs!

Make the strong body endure the hard working

Entrepreneurs are basically busy so the health is very important. They must take the very hard working environment. If we can keep running continuously, we can increase the stamina and can get the body so to endure the hard working. This is very helpful for entrepreneurs!

Can summarize the brain

We sometimes hear that great ideas might come down from the heaven while we're running but I don't agree that. But instead of it, these are the facts.

  • We have nothing to do while we're running except for running.
  • Blood flow improves

Because of them, my brain works like this while running.

  1. Think of business deeply.
  2. Focus on thinking of business deeply and deeply.
  3. As it gets tired (less enough oxygen), I can't think of many things and need to focus on a few things.
  4. Then remove not important things from the brain and only important things remain.
This may depend on the people but please try it!

Can understand the importance of habits

If we have a habit of running, we can feel the effect clearly.

  • Able to run faster
  • Able to run longer
  • Losing weight
  • Health gets better

But we can't feel these effects with the only short habit. It's important to continue the habit for long. We can say the same thing for the other things to improve something but running makes us notice the importance of continuous habit clearly.

A friend of running

If you are a programmer, basic attitude must be "Don't guess, measure!". Running too. If we measure the result of running quantitatively, we can clearly understand our improvement and it makes us motivated.

My recommendation is smartphone application, Run keeper. All we have to do is to open this app and tap the "Start" button, Then it can measure the running performance.

The most important KPI is min/km.

For example, the world record for the full marathon is 2:2:57. This equals to 2.92 min/km.
On the other hand, my record of the last running was 7:37 min/km. Then I can know the difference between my and the world record clearly for example.
